We met Katerina when she was 5. Now she is a third grader. This year Katerina started a new school where she encountered some new challenges. It was difficult to say goodbye to her old friends and make new ones. Katerina would like to make a new best friend. What is the best way to make a new friend if not through common hobbies? The girl hopes riding bicycles together could help her make new friends.

 

Although we were unable to give Katerina a new best friend we managed to fulfill her dream to have a bicycle on March 21.

 

Katerina talks about her dream:

 

“This year I started a new school. I feel uneasy with new teacher and different children. Often I am sad because I do not know how to approach someone and make a friend. Before I had one very best friend-we used to go to school together, attended afterschool activities and rode bicycles. Here children often gather with their bikes in the nearby stadium. I often watch them from my window and dream about having a bike so I could go riding with them. Maybe I could make a new best friend while doing that.

 

Last Saturday my father asked me if I still dreamt about a bike and I said yes, yes and yes! I was very surprised when I saw Dainoras’ car in the yard and Edita and Sarunas inside! It was so good to see them! Together we went to a bicycle shop. I could not believe my eyes—there were so many beautiful bicycles there and I was to choose one for myself! It was much harder than in seemed but after a long time searching we found the best bike and a helmet. Thanks so much to Rugute! The weather is prohibiting me from riding outside so I ride my new bike inside the house.”
