The Bridge of Friendship Sweden-Lithuania

At the very beginning of winter and Christmas season, so much anticipated by all children, Christmas Elves from Sweden visited us to wish a beautiful, warm and cozy holiday season.

 

Swedishman Mr. Bengt Nillson, who surprised our sick children last Christmas and then invited them to come to The Feast of Joy in Sweden, had not forgotten our sick children before the holidays in this latter year either. The gifts, prepared with endless love, care and wishes to get well by Swedish schoolchildren, just like last year, brought smiles to our little Fighters’ faces. Our little Fighters also received backpacks full of all kinds of surprises.

 

Two Swedish students and a teacher handed these gifts out to children on the 6^th of December in Kaunas and on the 7^th of December in Vilnius. Besides showering children with gifts, they also sang songs and played games with them, proving, that language differences do not matter when hearts talk to each other.

 

Besides lots of smiles the Swedish guests brought to our children, they also shared endless kindness, attention and friendship. Being thankful to them for the attention they gave our children, we were very happy to be able to show them around Vilnius city, including the most beautiful sights of the old-town, and to tell them more interesting facts about our country’s history.

 

 

We wholeheartedly thank professor Liutauras Labanauskas, chief of Oncology Sector of Clinic of Children Diseases of Kaunas Medicine University, and Sigita Stankevičienė, chief of Oncohematology Centre of Children‘s Hospital of Vilnius University, for organizing a pleasant visit to children hospitals. We thank the nannies of children‘s playroom for their help distributing the gifts. We thank Jolanta Normantienė for being with us.
